Advisory Team

Community Suicide Prevention

empowering community suicide prevention efforts in
Nova scotia

Roots of Hope NS is currently looking for amazing people to be part of an Advisory Team. This is a critical part of our work as the members of the Advisory Team will help shape the direction and support our journey. There is a lot to discuss, figure out and do as we explore new ways of engaging communities to take an active role in promoting life and reducing suicide. We are taking an intersectoral approach which means not just looking at suicide as a mental health issue, but considering how financial stability, housing, food security and sense of belonging (just to name a few) impact suicidality. We also believe every life has meaning and our work will support priority populations who are often not represented in the data. As part of the Advisory Team, you will be listening and using your skills, knowledge and connections to support communities.

Commitment to Life Promotion

As part of the Advisory Team you will be helping guide the Roots of Hope work so we create a model that is equitable and reflective of community’s needs. Roots of Hope is being piloted in the Northern Zone (Colchester-Easts Hants, Pictou and Cumberland Co.) Our goal is to create something that can be shared with the whole province. If you are an “out of the box,” big picture, strategic thinker who likes to work collaboratively with passionate folks  -we are your people.
