Specialized Supports

People affected by suicide often face barriers to getting the support they need. Whether someone is experiencing thoughts of suicide, has attempted suicide, or is grieving the loss of someone who has died by suicide, timely, compassionate, and suicide-specific support can make a meaningful difference.

Many communities have dedicated mental health and community services, but gaps can still exist. Specialized supports help ensure that people receive care that recognizes the unique experiences of suicide-related crises and loss. They also strengthen connections between services so individuals and families are not left to navigate complex systems alone.

At Roots of Hope, we believe that every person deserves access to support that is evidence-informed, culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and rooted in hope. By working alongside communities, healthcare providers, people with lived and living experience, and local organizations, we help develop and strengthen supports that meet the needs of each community.

When people can access the right support at the right time, recovery is possible, hope can grow, and communities become better equipped to respond with compassion and care.

Pillar Overview

We focus on developing and expanding services that fill gaps, increase access to care, and ensure people receive compassionate, suicide-specific support when they need it most.

Navigational Support Finding the right support can be overwhelming, especially during a crisis or after the loss of a loved one. Our navigational support helps individuals, families, and caregivers connect with the services, programs, and resources that best meet their needs, making it easier to access care and move forward.

Restorative Justice Circles Roots of Hope contributes by bringing a suicide prevention and mental health lens to these circles, helping ensure the process is both compassionate and accountable. This approach not only repairs harm but also strengthens pathways to healing and safety for individuals and their communities.

Suicide Loss Support Groups Grieving the loss of someone to suicide can be a unique and deeply isolating experience. We support creating spaces that bring together people with shared experiences in a safe, supportive environment where participants can find connection, understanding, practical coping strategies, and hope alongside others who understand their journey.

By working alongside community partners and people with lived and living experience, we help build compassionate systems of care that foster healing, connection, and hope.
