Community Projects

Roots of Hope NS believes that the most meaningful suicide prevention efforts are created through collaboration. Communities understand their own strengths, needs, and opportunities for change, and we work alongside them to support ideas that come from within the community.

We help bring people together, strengthen connections, share resources, and support community-led initiatives. We collaborate with people with lived and living experience, community organizations, healthcare partners, and other local leaders to develop projects that respond to the unique needs and priorities of each community.

Our Hope

Our role is to listen, connect, and support. We help partners move ideas into action by providing guidance, resources, connections, and suicide prevention expertise while ensuring that community voices remain at the centre of the work.

Through these partnerships, communities have developed and supported initiatives that increase awareness, strengthen supports, build skills, and create opportunities for connection and hope.

Together, we are building a network of people and organizations committed to preventing suicide and creating communities where everyone has the opportunity to live meaningful, connected lives.

How Roots of Hope Can Help Your Project

Connecting People, Communities and Resources

We help bring the right people and resources together. This may include connecting community members, people with lived and living experience, organizations, healthcare partners, trainers, and other community leaders who can contribute knowledge, experience, or support to your project.

Sharing Knowledge, Research and Bet Practices

We can help communities access relevant research, evidence-informed practices, resources, and lessons learned from other communities. Together, we can explore what is already known and consider how it might be adapted to fit your community’s strengths, needs, and priorities.

Supporting Planning and Bring Ideas to Life

Have an idea but aren't sure where to start? Roots of Hope can work alongside you to explore the idea, identify next steps, connect resources, develop a plan, and support implementation. Our role is to help strengthen community-led ideas while keeping the vision and leadership with those who are driving the project.

Creating Opportunities to Learn and Reduce Stigma

We can support learning opportunities that build suicide prevention knowledge, increase confidence, and create safer spaces for conversations about mental health and suicide. This may include workshops, presentations, community conversations, and connections to suicide prevention training.
