We work with safeTALK and ASIST trainers that are compassionate individuals who are committed to creating communities where people feel safe talking about suicide and know how to support one another. Many of the trainers bring lived or living experience alongside professional and community expertise, creating learning environments that are authentic, respectful, and grounded in hope.
United by a shared commitment to suicide prevention, the trainers believe that open conversations can reduce stigma, strengthen connections, and save lives. Through empathy, evidence-informed education, and meaningful dialogue, they help participants build the knowledge and confidence to recognize when someone may be struggling and respond with compassion.
Together, the trainers are helping create suicide-safer communities where everyone has a role to play in fostering hope and supporting life.

At Roots of Hope, we believe suicide prevention training should be accessible, inclusive, and responsive to the communities it serves. Our mission is to reduce barriers to training by working with trainers and communities to increase access, offer training in local settings, and create opportunities for more people to build the skills and confidence to support someone in crisis.
We are committed to delivering training through a trauma-informed lens that recognizes the diverse experiences participants bring to the learning environment. Trainers foster respectful, compassionate spaces where people feel supported, valued, and able to engage at their own pace.
We also believe that communities are strongest when they learn from one another. By supporting community members to become trainers, we help ensure that training is culturally informed, locally relevant, and reflective of the strengths, experiences, and voices of the communities we serve. This approach builds local capacity, strengthens community ownership, and creates sustainable networks of people working together to prevent suicide and promote hope.
