Research & Evaluation

Effective suicide prevention requires understanding what works, what communities need, and how we can continue to improve. Research and evaluation help ensure that suicide prevention efforts are informed by evidence, responsive to community experiences, and focused on making a meaningful difference.

Every community has unique strengths, challenges, and priorities. By gathering information, listening to community voices, and evaluating our initiatives, we can better understand the impact of our work and identify opportunities to strengthen supports, programs, and services.

At Roots of Hope, we believe that people with lived and living experience, community partners, and local knowledge are essential to building effective suicide prevention strategies. We use research and evaluation to learn from these perspectives, share knowledge, and guide ongoing improvement.

By measuring our progress and sharing what we learn, we help build stronger, more responsive approaches to suicide prevention and contribute to a growing understanding of how communities can create hope, connection, and support.

Pillar Overview

We use research and evaluation to understand community needs, learn from experiences, and strengthen suicide prevention efforts. By gathering information, sharing knowledge, and reflecting on our work, we help ensure that our initiatives remain responsive, effective, and meaningful for the communities we serve.

Research Conversation We create opportunities for dialogue, learning, and knowledge sharing with community members, partners, researchers, and people with lived and living experience. These conversations help us better understand community priorities, explore emerging needs, and identify opportunities to strengthen suicide prevention efforts.

Evaluation Reports We evaluate specific programs and initiatives to understand what is working, what impact is being created, and where there are opportunities for improvement. These evaluations help guide decision-making, support continuous learning, and ensure our work is informed by evidence and community feedback.

Impact Reports We share updates on the activities, partnerships, and outcomes of Roots of Hope initiatives through impact reporting. These reports help keep communities, partners, funders, and other interest holders informed about the progress being made and the collective impact of community efforts.
