The Feather Carriers Program is a year-long life promotion program that brings people together to learn from Indigenous teachings, knowledge, and ways of being. Rooted in relationship, connection, culture, and community, the program creates space for participants to explore the strengths and protective factors that support wellness and meaningful lives.

Through teaching circles, participants learn alongside Indigenous knowledge keepers, facilitators, and community partners. The program is offered in community and is grounded in the understanding that life promotion is an important

part of suicide prevention—strengthening connection, belonging, identity, resilience, and hope.

Feather Carriers was supported through collaboration between Roots of Hope NS, Mi’kmaw and Indigenous partners, and community organizations in 2025-2026. The program honoured Indigenous knowledge and recognizes that communities hold important wisdom about what helps people thrive.

At its heart, Feather Carriers is about nurturing connection, supporting life, and creating space for hope to grow.
